THE EXMOOR FOREST INN (SIMONSBATH)
This is a must for a delicious lunch or dinner or just a post walk / pre dinner drink. Just 5 miles from Charity Cottage, it is worth the short drive. It was fully refurbished in 2022 and now is a “go-to” place for delicious food. The kitchen serves a daily changing menu with all the beef and lamb coming from their organic hill farm and all other produce being sourced locally. It’s always best to book and opening hours do vary according to the seasons.

TARR FARM INN (DULVERTON)
Tarr Farm is a beautiful Inn dating from the 1600 based in the heart of the Exmoor National Park right by the historic Tarr Steps on the River Barle and is approximately 6 miles from the cottage. You can book a table in the cosy bar or enjoy a more formal setting in the restaurant. The Inn has in the past been named as one of the top 50 Gastropubs in the UK as well as being a finalist in the Muddy Stilettos “Best Destination Pub” in Somerset. The Inn is also well known for its fantastic Sunday Roasts.

EXFORD BRIDGE TEA ROOMS
Bruce, who owns and runs the tea rooms provides hearty breakfasts, lunches and cream teas. He makes a mean coffee too and on a Friday night during the summer you can get pizza and eat it out on the green.

THE RISING SUN (LYNMOUTH)
This unique 14th Century pub is well worth the drive which is about 16 miles and takes you across the Moor which on a sunny day is divine. The pub resides in the seaside town of Lynmouth. The staff are very welcoming and the pub has bags of character. The menu is renowned for locally sourced food and the mussels are to die for.

THE CROWN HOTEL
The hotel is a well-known 17th Century Coaching Inn and only down the road from Charity Cottage. The pub serves good local food and is generally open 7 days a week, 4pm – 11pm and food is served from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.

THE WHITE HORSE
This pub has a very welcoming bar with a lovely log burner. Nick who works behind the bar always goes out of his way to make sure you have everything you need. The pub is open 7 days a week and has a menu which offers local produce along with a take-away menu too.
